Our History
Joye Weaver opened Montessori Weaver School in 2009 with three teachers and a limited enrollment. She envisioned and created a welcoming atmosphere where young children in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee, area could develop into confident, independent, and joyful learners.
MWS quickly outgrew its first location, moving to a larger facility nearby in 2012. The faculty and staff expanded over time, but that initial desire−to provide a carefully prepared environment that encourages a quality education−never wavered.
In 2024, Lara Montgomery purchased MWS and joined Joye as co-director. A part of the MWS team since its founding, Lara embraces the Montessori approach to learning and shares Joye’s passion for providing a holistic education that helps children reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
The interior of the school is orderly and filled with inviting Montessori materials that encourage students to explore, manipulate, problem solve and investigate. The spacious outside area offers organic gardens, a fenced play area with room to run and climb, and endless opportunities to observe nature. Indoors and out, the space is designed to help the students fulfill their innate need for purposeful work, refine their motor skills, learn to socialize harmoniously and develop a solid academic foundation.
